Program Manager
GM Racing

"My grandfather and father before me were involved in Detroit in the automobile industry. I really didn't have an option when it came to chosing an avocation. Not that I would have chosen another one because I had several other careers after finishing college. But always gravitating back to our own private little independent amateur teams that my brother, myself, my father my grandfather had, it was always there."

Christian Fittipaldi
#26 Andretti Green Racing
Acura ARX-01b

For standout Christian Fittipaldi the desire to start racing might seem a little clearer than for others. However, being the son of Wilson Fittipaldi and the nephew of Emerson can only help for so long. For Christian, it is the desire and the nerves that keep him in the cockpit from race to race.

"I really enjoy my racing, I would risk to say more than ever now-a-days because I have pretty much raced everything that there is to race all over the world and I just enjoy it. I have the rush and I have the little tickles inside the stomach like the same way when you go to school and you were onto a very important exam at the end of the year like you get a little nervous, I still feel that even after 26-27 years, I still feel that when I hop in the car and go to the start of a race. There’s one thing which I always tell everyone and that is the day I hop in the car and I don’t feel anything else, I don’t get excited or I don’t feel the little butterflies inside my stomach then you can be sure that I will un-strap myself, get out of the car and its time for me to look around and choose a different challenge in life."

Luis Diaz
Lowe's Fernandez Racing
Lola B06/43-Acura

"The American Le Mans Series is the closest thing to Formula 1 in prototype racing. For me it's a dream come true to be able to drive these cars. It is super-enjoyable as a driver. When I was three years old I loved to watch racing on TV and I remember the only toys I had were cars. You have that in your blood and I'm very fortunate to live from what I love to do."

Andy Wallace
Driver, Dyson Racing
"My father took me to watch racing when I think I was 6 or 7 for the first time. We went to Silverstone, Brands Hatch and a lot of my local tracks in England. We watched Formula 1 and sports cars and I just thought it would be really cool if at some time I could do that. I was very lucky and you need to be in the right place at the right time to get the opportunity to drive these cars. Somewhere along the line, Mr. Dyson managed to pick up the phone and call me to ask me if I wanted to drive for him. I've haven't looked back since and it's been a great few years in the American Le Mans Series and I hope there are more to come.

I've participated at Le Mans 19 times. These cars are absolutely wonderful to drive. They are the state-of-the-art cars. They don't have a massive amount of horsepower but they have so much grip and the lap times are fantastic. The racing is great. If you look at Le Mans, it is the World Cup and the Super Bowl of sports car racing. And if you want to be at the top of sports car racing, that's why you come to the American Le Mans Series."

Bobby Rahal
Co-owner, Rahal Letterman Racing
"I was brought into it by my father who raced as an amateur and grew up around it. Racing is one of those sports that gets in your blood, and when it is in there it never leaves. I fortunate to be able to take really what was a passion for me and turn it into a living as a driver and now as a team owner.

"What I like about it is that the manufacturers are involved and there is a technical freedom that doesn't exist very much in racing any more. You have multiple tire companies involved in the Series, multiple engines and multiple chassis manufacturers. Just about every other form of racing in the world is spec engines, spec tires, spec this and spec that. It is still good racing but it doesn't have to me the level of interest. This also is a place with the great names like Porsche and Ferrari and Corvette and Audi. This is where they come to compete."

Robert Davis
Senior VP, Product Development and Quality
Mazda North American Operations

"It offers us a chance to compete against the best manufacturers in the world and showcase Mazda technology. It allows us to use innovative thinking the Mazda way to compete against the likes of Porsche and Acura, and that’s what we love about it."

Robert Clarke
President, Honda Performance Development
"The American Le Mans Series is a Series that truly embraces performance and technology. It is a Series which has very open rules from a technology .point of view that will allow us to truly express our capabilities as a technical company."
